Building the Toboggan, One Brick at a Time

Play-Well LEGO Activation Coming to the 2026 PDGA Pro World Championships

The 2026 PDGA Pro World Championships at Toboggan will feature one of the most ambitious and family-friendly activations ever brought to a disc golf major: a 100,000+ piece LEGO collaborative build, presented in partnership with Play-Well.

Throughout championship weekend, spectators of all ages will have the opportunity to help recreate the iconic Toboggan course entirely out of LEGO bricks — contributing to a massive, evolving display that grows from Thursday through the final round on Sunday.

This activation is free for all spectators and is designed to bring kids, families, and fans closer to the event through hands-on creativity.

A Massive Collaborative Build at Tournament Central

Play-Well will bring 100,000 LEGO pieces to Toboggan and host the primary activation under a 1,200 square-foot tent at Tournament Central. The build will begin on Thursday, with the goal of completing the full Toboggan course and surrounding tournament features by the end of competition on Sunday.

Spectators can participate at their own pace — whether that means contributing a single small build or spending extended time helping assemble sections of the course. Play-Well staff will be on site at all times to guide participation, provide instructions, and help guests integrate their builds into the larger display.

The final result will be a detailed LEGO recreation of the Toboggan course, creating a unique, interactive centerpiece and a standout photo opportunity for fans throughout the week.

What Guests Will Build

Attendees will help populate and shape the course through a combination of structured mini-builds and open creative contributions. Instructions and guidance will be provided for several specific elements, including:

  • Disc golf baskets for each hole
  • Disc golfers to populate the course
  • Trees and greenery
  • Grandstands filled with LEGO minifigure spectators

Guests are also encouraged to bring their own creative ideas to the build, adding personal touches that make the final display truly collaborative.

Multiple Locations, All Weekend

While the main build will take place at Tournament Central, Play-Well will also extend the activation beyond Toboggan.

On Friday, while the A Pool competes at Black Locust, the Play-Well team will be on site building a LEGO disc golf basket at Black Locust, giving spectators a chance to participate as well.

A Perfect Fit for Families

Play-Well has delivered large-scale LEGO activations for major organizations including Netflix, Facebook, Google, HP, and Oracle, bringing experience and structure to builds of this scale. Their mission aligns naturally with the goals of the 2026 PDGA Pro World Championships.

“Kids are natural engineers. We help them realize it.”
— Play-Well

Tournament Director Nate Heinold emphasized the importance of creating experiences that engage families throughout the entire day:

“It’s our strong desire for the 2026 PDGA Pro World Championships to bring kids and families to the event to experience the thrill of watching a disc fly through the air, while also providing unique activations on the ground to keep them engaged all day. Working with Play-Well to bring a 100,000-piece LEGO build to the World Championships will provide kids and families alike with an incredible opportunity to participate in a collaborative build with an amazing payoff at the end of the event. Our team is excited to partner with their staff on the ground at the event to deliver an unforgettable experience. I’ll be right there with our spectators participating in the build — because who doesn’t love LEGO!”

About Play-Well

Play-Well was founded in 1997 when an engineer saw the potential of using LEGO materials to introduce kids to engineering concepts through play. More than 25 years later, Play-Well now teaches tens of thousands of kids each year through camps, classes, and events across the country.

Through hands-on building experiences, kids gain exposure to core principles of engineering and physics while developing confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills — all while having fun.

An Experience You Can Help Build

From the first brick placed on Thursday to the completed Toboggan course on Sunday, this activation will be shaped by the creativity of the spectators themselves. Whether you’re a longtime disc golf fan, a first-time Worlds attendee, or a family looking for an interactive experience, the Play-Well LEGO build will be a must-see part of the 2026 PDGA Pro World Championships.
