Investing in World-Class Spectator Viewing for the 2026 PDGA Pro World Championships

As Ledgestone Disc Golf has prepared to host the 2026 PDGA Pro World Championships, the team has made a clear commitment: elevate the spectator experience at both Toboggan and Black Locust to a level never seen before in disc golf.

Following extensive feedback—especially from the 2025 DGLO post-event survey, which highlighted a desire for improved viewing at Toboggan—the team has spent the past several months developing a significant maintenance and sightline-improvement plan for the 2026 PDGA Pro Worlds event. Working hand-in-hand with Kensington Metroparks, the Ledgestone team has initiated major clearing, trimming, and habitat restoration efforts across both championship courses.

These improvements are not cosmetic; they are directly designed to give fans better access, clearer views, and more immersive moments during the biggest week in disc golf.

A Collaborative Maintenance Plan with Kensington Metroparks

Over the last several months, the Ledgestone team has been on-site frequently at both properties to help oversee an ambitious maintenance initiative. Working closely with Kensington Metroparks staff, the teams begun a comprehensive plan to remove invasive autumn olive vegetation and dense undergrowth that previously limited spectator visibility—especially on key corridors.

This plan is actively being implemented throughout the next month, with additional restoration and beautification scheduled for Spring and Summer 2026.

Toboggan: Major Sightline Enhancements for Key Viewing Corridors

Toboggan is already one of the most iconic courses in disc golf—and now, its spectator layout is getting a major upgrade.

Primary GA Viewing Corridor: Hole 8 Green → Hole 17 Tee

The road along the back side of the Toboggan course will be one of the premier general admission viewing areas at Worlds. Dense Autumn Olives are being removed, which will open large sections of the corridor to give spectators long, clean views of multiple fairways.

Additional Toboggan Improvements

Significant clearing and line-of-sight improvements are being completed on:

Hole 2’s tee; Holes 4, 8, and 9; Hole 10’s second shot; Hole 12’s tee; Hole 15’s green, and hole 16

These updates will create a layered, stadium-like experience across multiple holes, enabling fans to see world-class disc golf from vantage points that simply didn’t exist before.

Black Locust: A Full “Haircut” and Spectator-First Enhancements

The transformation at Black Locust is equally dramatic.

South Course – 11 Holes of New Visibility

The South side is undergoing a significant “haircut,” opening up fairway edges and clearing heavy brush to create cleaner, more walkable, more spectator-friendly viewing lines.

Martindale Side – Built Specifically for Worlds Spectating

The seven new holes on the Martindale property are being designed with spectators in mind, balancing the competitive integrity required for Worlds with the ability to host large crowds safely and comfortably.

All maintenance work on both courses is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025, followed by beautification work heading into peak season 2026.

Quote from Tournament Director Nate Heinold

“We take spectator feedback seriously and after extensively reviewing the data and spectator comments, we felt it was important to approach the Metropark about some new maintenance work to improve viewing areas for the 2026 Pro Worlds event. The Metropark has been a great partner and quickly put in action a plan to make the changes necessary to make this a successful event.”

The 2026 PDGA Pro World Championships will bring one of the most spectator-ready course layouts ever experienced in disc golf. These maintenance investments reflect the team’s dedication to creating not only world-class competition—but a world-class viewing experience for every fan who walks the fairways in 2026.
